- How can I go about using ODIPKT24.COM w/ WINPKT.COM to support Trumpet Winsock
- under WFW 3.11?
-
- What doesn't work is this:
-
- In autoexec.bat load odipkt24, followed by winpkt. Everything looks fine
- until I go into Windows, then when I start TCPMAN.EXE I get the message:
- "Can't load TCP." When I look in tcpman's window the messages there
- are first, "Packet driver must be Bluebook or Slip," and second, "Can't
- find PKTDRV or WINPKT packet driver at specified interrupt."
-
- When I run odipkt24 it says its frame type is "802.3 Class 11," and winpkt
- confirms that its interrupt is 0x69 (which is what I specified in tcpman).
-
- What's going on here?

- Well, I'm running an IBM ValuePoint 433DX/D with local bus S3 and
- 2 megs of VRAM. The S3 driver is already at v2.21 and I use the
- 800X600 or 1024X768 65,536 color drivers (using 16-bit color gets rid
- of all the pallette shifting when viewing gifs/jpgs, etc). The Dell
- driver doesn't have more than 256 colors, and I'm not sure it's
- appropriate for my video chipset, which I believe is the 805 series S3.
-
- BTW, I get the same symptoms when running a 32-bit app... video all
- screwed up, hang on quit, ctrl-alt-del then enter to go back to Windows
- followed by a win32s exception error, followed by no window controls
- on the screen.
-
- This isn't the first time I've had problems with this video driver and
- Mosaic. With Mosaic alpha 1, I had to go back to the v2.02 version of
- the S3 driver to run 16-bit color AND Mosaic. Mosaic alpha 2 changed
- that... I could run the v2.21 driver and Mosaic. I'm gonna try using
- the v2.02 drivers with win32s and see what happens... will let you know.
-
- Frustrated,
